Rock and Roll’s a little different…

Tuesday, December 19th, 2006

If you’ve been around the Boomersaurus website lately… you’ll have noticed a lot of changes and additions.  There’s a lot of new and fun stuff that we hope you’ve had an opportunity to try.  It’s been a real balancing act to maintain the passion of Rock and Roll… the driving reason that BOOMERSAURUS ROCKS COLORADO… yet provide information and tools that allow us do work in a digital world.  Technology has afforded us a lot of new toys that can help us, as well as help you to be entertained by what we provide…  here is just a brief recap of some of the newest additions and improvements… (we’re making more every day!)

  • Installation of a Coppermine photogallery, and upgrading it to play multimedia on Microsoft, Firefox, Netscape and Opera Browsers.  We’ve done similar testing for KDE’s Konqueror, but haven’t validated the audio portions yet.  (We believe it works, but our $35 Linux laptop doesn’t support audio…)
  • Installation of a Joomla Content Management System to handle on-line venue registration an bookings.  It’s now possilble to completely arrange a booking with Boomersaurus on-line.
  • Installation of a Drupal portal for internal band use and communications.
  • Revising site presentation for accessibility… more accessibility improvements will be coming in the future.
  • Major steps toward strict compliance with XHTML 1.0 standards.
  • Spam and other filtering on our several WordPress blog sites.

Come see us, and say hello!

Boomer Rock Trivia – December 4

Monday, December 4th, 2006

Wow! Has it been a CRAZ-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Z-Y week for the Boomers!!!!!

Last Tuesday night, we trekked through a blizzard to do a 90 minute show at a club in Longmont, Colorado.  (The 4th and Main Club)  The place was somewhat lightly populated (duh… we unloaded in about 6 inches of “partly cloudy” in the alleyway behind the place), but those few heroes who braved the snow got some pretty good butt dancing goin’ on.   A bit of a power problem lunched a couple of amps, but we made it through then mushed our separate ways back home (without the benefit of dog sleds I might add!)

A couple nights later, on Friday, we played the employee Christmas party for the Eaton Country Club, north of Greeley, Colorado.  Outside the temp hovered around ZERO, but inside, Boomersaurus was HOT HOT HOT!!!!  The show AND THE AUDIENCE turned out to be FANTASTIC!  Didn’t hurt that a club owner (or two) happened to be there.  Things are starting to roll!

After getting to sleep about 2:00 – 2:30 (depending on latitude) we all bounced out of bed early Saturday morning and trekked to the Beyond Sound recording studio in the mountains northwest of Lyons.  Stratosaurus Ronnie’s Suburban and Drumosaurus Bob’s Jeep climbed the hill to the studio easily… the rest of us climbed on foot. ;-)   ANOTHER GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR A DOG SLED!!!!!

After a twelve hour session (which ended up in some SUPER cuts…  no NOT THE HAIR PLACE!!!!….) Duck slid his car into the ditch…  Ronnie, Stuart (Sam Slyme’s replacement), and Tom  hooked up Mrs. Duck’s Saturn and pulled it to freedom.  (OK speaking of which, have you visited Three Chords to Freedom yet?)

Sunday was spend burning demo CDs…  Tom’s already delivered a couple to people who were waiting.  We’ll have the cuts on the booking site later today…  Check back here (or even better, subscribe through RSS) for an announcement.

Oh… the trivia question…

Neil Young, the song was Cinnamon Girl…

Speaking of Cinnamon…  what was the name of the band with the 1969 hit “Cinnamon, Let Me In”?

Post your answer as a comment.
